SBICARD Stock Summary · July 2026
Management portrayed the quarter as strong spend-driven growth with materially lower credit costs underpinning improved profitability. Total spends rose 27% year over year in Q1 FY27 and profit after tax increased 20% to INR 664 crore, outcomes management tied to sustained digital investment, bancassurance-led customer acquisition and wider RuPay/UPI-led card engagement. They emphasized disciplined execution—strengthening credit decisioning, data analytics and digital capabilities—while scaling EMI “spend-to-lend” offerings and expanding in Tier 2/3 and co-brand partnerships to deepen retail, higher-margin balances. Management acknowledged tension between growth and costs: operating expenses rose with new-card sourcing and a one-off wage-code provision, and funding cost sensitivity remains (cost of funds stable this quarter but likely to move with market rates), with pass-through to new originations and active treasury actions intended to defend NIM. Asset quality trends were positive yet cautious, with reduced delinquencies and conservative overlays retained amid geopolitical uncertainty. For the near term they expect seasonal expense pickup, guidance of a full-year cost-to-income ratio around 56–58%, and NIM to stay near current levels.
