Tata Motors announced that commercial vehicle sales stood at 1,32,465 units in Q4 FY 2026 compared to 1,05,465 units in Q4 FY2025, recording a growth of 25%. This includes domestic sales of 1,25,562 units (up 26% YoY) and international business of 6,903 units (up 17% YoY).
Tata Motors achieved total commercial vehicle sales of 47,976 units in month of March 2026 compared to 41,122 units in March 2025, recording a growth of 17%. Total sales include domestic sales of 45,825 units (up 18% YoY) and international business of 2,151 units (down 4% YoY).
Sales of heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) trucks climbed 14% YoY to 14,614 units in March 2026, while intermediate, light, and medium commercial vehicle (ILMCV) truck sales surged 16% YoY to 8,337 units. Passenger carrier sales rose 31% to 7,983 units, while SCV cargo and pickup sales jumped 17% to 14,891 units during March 2026 over the year-ago period. Total domestic CV sales increased 18% YoY to 45,825 units in March 2026. For Q4 FY26, the company's total sales rose 25% to 132,465 units, compared with 105,643 units in Q4 FY25. Girish Wagh, MD & CEO, Tata Motors, said, 'FY26 saw a subdued first half for the commercial vehicle industry, followed by a decisive recovery in H2 as demand conditions improved with the rollout of GST 2.0 and gained momentum through Q3 and Q4. In Q4 FY26, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles registered sales volumes of 125,562 units, the highest since Q4 FY21, and representing a 25% year-on-year (YoY) growth, reflecting improving freight activity and renewed customer confidence. For the full year (FY26), sales volumes grew by 14% from 376,903 to 428,329 YoY, showcasing broad-based growth across product lines, customer segments, and markets. During the year, we expanded our portfolio with the launch of new products, including Ace Pro and Winger 9S; upgraded our entire truck range to meet European safety norms (ECE R.029 03); and introduced the new Azura range, strengthening our competitiveness and deepening our presence across key segments. In March, the monthly double-digit YoY sales growth saw some moderation amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia and its impact on select sectors of the economy. We have intensified efforts to support customers by ensuring smooth and uninterrupted logistics operations as they address emerging operating challenges. Looking ahead, we remain agile, closely tracking geopolitical developments and the evolving macro environment. Diesel prices remain a key monitorable given their impact on the total cost of ownership. On a consolidated basis, net profit declined 48% YoY to Rs 705 crore in Q3 FY26 from Rs 1,355 crore a year ago. Sequentially, it returned to profit from a loss of Rs 867 crore in Q2 FY26. Revenue rose 16.2% YoY to Rs 21,732 crore in Q3 FY26 from Rs 18,697 crore in Q3 FY25. On a sequential basis, revenue increased 17.5% QoQ from Rs 18,491 crore. Profit before tax fell 39.6% YoY to Rs 925 crore compared with Rs 1,531 crore in the year-ago quarter. Sequentially, PBT improved sharply from a loss of Rs 561 crore in Q2 FY26. On the cost front, total expenditure increased 22.6% YoY to Rs 20,607 crore. Raw material consumption climbed 20.0% YoY to Rs 12,531 crore. Employee expenses edged up 3.9% YoY to Rs 1,450 crore. Interest costs declined 43.8% YoY to Rs 198 crore, while depreciation fell 13.3% YoY to Rs 483 crore. Earnings during the quarter were impacted by exceptional losses of Rs 1,643 crore, linked to the implementation of the new labour code, demerger-related expenses and acquisition costs. Operationally, CV wholesales stood at 116.8 thousand units, up 20% YoY. Domestic volumes rose 18% YoY, while export volumes surged 70% YoY. The company's domestic CV VAHAN market share improved by 100 bps sequentially to 35.5% in Q3 FY26. Industry-wise, management expects demand to strengthen further in Q4 FY26, aided by the government's sustained infrastructure push and improving activity across end-use sectors.
