The project was awarded to the consortium of SPML Infra (26%) and JWIL Infra (74%), which successfully emerged as the lowest bidder and received the letter of acceptance (LoA). The comprehensive project involves several critical components aimed at strengthening water infrastructure in the region. One of the central features is the construction, testing, and commissioning of a new reservoir in Porur, envisioned to play a vital role as a key water storage facility. To ensure efficient and reliable water transfer and distribution, the project also includes the development of strategically located pumping stations. A range of ancillary works will be undertaken to establish the supporting infrastructure necessary for the seamless operation of the reservoir and pumping stations. These works will primarily focus on the regions of Perur and Porur, townships in Chennai, it added. A key highlight of the project is its long-term operation and maintenance (O&M) component. The consortium has been entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining and ensuring the efficient functioning of the entire infrastructure for a period of 20 years. This commitment aims to guarantee sustained service delivery and enhance the longevity of the assets over the long term. SPML Infra has signed an exclusive agreement with Energy Vault, USA; a global leader in sustainable energy storage solutions. The said agreement is set to fast-track the manufacturing and deployment of Energy Storage Systems in India through a technology transfer to SPML. The project, valued at Rs 617.98 crore (approximately USD 70.90 million), aims to enhance irrigation infrastructure across 12,599.43 hectares of agricultural land in the Bisnugarh block (Hazaribagh), Nawadih block (Bokaro), and Dumri block (Giridih) in Jharkhand. The project involves the reconstruction, repair, and structural strengthening of the main canal, right branch canal, and associated distributaries, sub-distributaries, and minor canals through open channels. It also includes the construction of an approach channel, canal lining, a solar-powered pump house cum sump, and a pressure pipe water conveyance system. The pipeline network will use MS, DI, and HDPE pipes of up to 1200 mm in diameter and include an advanced pipe distribution network (PDN) and control mechanisms. Additionally, civil works such as boundary walls, approach roads, and service roads are part of the plan. The project includes a 10-year post-construction phase for operation, maintenance, and management (O&M) to ensure long-term sustainability and efficiency.
