GNFC Stock Summary · November 2024
The company is actively investing approximately ₹2,200 crores in key capital projects, including a weak nitric acid facility and a coal-based power plant, to enhance production capacity and diversify its offerings. However, rising oil and benzene prices are exerting significant margin pressure, complicating profitability, particularly in the chemical segment, which has faced operational shutdowns and a PBT loss of ₹170 crores in Q2. Despite these challenges, the fertilizer segment has shown resilience, contributing positively to revenue with a ₹100 crore increase. The management remains cautious about future profitability, emphasizing the need for government support to address fixed cost subsidies and mitigate under-recovery issues. Overall, while the outlook for the second half appears optimistic, the company must navigate ongoing market dynamics and production challenges to sustain growth.
