Regular increase in cost: <\/strong>Every year, the price of college rises by around 10%.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Education options are increasing<\/strong>: With the increasing aspirations of your child, you should be financially ready as a parent to support them.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. The joining date cannot be changed<\/strong>: Unlike other financial goals, there cannot be any change in the timelines of education.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Investment-strategies-as-per-the-age-of-your-child\"><\/span><strong>Investment strategies as per the age of your child <\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1-0-to-5-yrs\"><\/span><strong>1. 0 to 5 yrs &nbsp;<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You have approximately 10 to 15 yrs left to arrange your investment at this point. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickertape.in\/blog\/what-is-equity\/\">Equity<\/a> should make up a larger portion of your ideal asset portfolio because it is better suited for long-term investing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Option 1<\/strong>: Smart asset allocation&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Healthy allocation between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickertape.in\/blog\/what-is-equity\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"5755\">equity<\/a>, debt and hybrid&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Option 2:<\/strong> Government schemes&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can consider the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickertape.in\/blog\/sukanya-samriddhi-yojana-eligibility-benefits-how-to-apply-withdrawal-rules-and-more\/\">Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana<\/a> Scheme (for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickertape.in\/blog\/top-10-schemes-for-a-girl-child-in-india\/\">girl child<\/a>), which qualifies for both a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickertape.in\/blog\/income-tax-deduction\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"6844\">Section 80C<\/a> exemption and a tax-free return. This scheme has 21 yrs lock-in period.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2-6-to-15-yrs\"><\/span><strong>2. 6 to 15 yrs<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You now have 5 to 10 yrs to plan your investment. Your risk tolerance has decreased, so you should ideally create an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickertape.in\/blog\/difference-between-debt-and-equity\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"3432\">equity and debt portfolio<\/a> that is split 50:50.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Option 1:<\/strong> Create a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickertape.in\/blog\/what-is-sip\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"6498\">Systematic Investment Plan (SIP)<\/a> for a longer period of time. Investing the same amount each month can produce a decent return on your investment and fulfil your planning. If you fall into a higher tax bracket, you can even choose an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickertape.in\/blog\/how-to-invest-in-elss\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"4691\">ELSS fund<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Option 2<\/strong>: Semi-annual or annual review&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To make sure your investments are in accordance with your goals, you should check and track their performance on a regular basis. You can use this to determine whether you need to make additional or less investments to build the corpus you want.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3-15-yrs-and-above\"><\/span><strong>3. 15 yrs and above<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You still have a few years until you actually need the money. Therefore, it would be wise to start concentrating on asset protection rather than expansion.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Option 1<\/strong>: Prioritize capital protection.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep the money in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickertape.in\/blog\/what-are-debt-funds\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"3817\">debt funds<\/a> and other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickertape.in\/blog\/fixed-income-securities\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"4230\">fixed income instruments<\/a>, such as FDs, for the time being.
