The second wave, the China crisis, and even the US Federal Reserve\u2019s tapering of the bond-buying programme could not dissuade Dalal Street.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Increased inflation, shrinking companies\u2019 margins, and a slow vaccination rate were also initially unable to prevent an 18-mth-long <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickertape.in\/blog\/bull-market\/\">bull market<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The breaking down of the Indian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickertape.in\/blog\/how-to-invest-in-shares\/?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=article\">stock market<\/a> has raised concerns about the market\u2019s values being too high to be healthy. The 1-yr and 2-yr forward PE multiples of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickertape.in\/indices\/nifty-index-.NSEI?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=article\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nifty50<\/a> are the highest among emerging market economies.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rapidly declining equity risk premia for India reflects the growing optimism for the Indian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickertape.in\/blog\/how-to-invest-in-shares\/\">stock market<\/a>. According to the RBI data, India\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickertape.in\/blog\/equity-investment\/?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=article\">equity<\/a> risk premia fell to 3.2% in September 2020 from 6.3% in Mar 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The central bank also used the term \u201cexuberance\u201d to describe activities in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickertape.in\/blog\/all-you-need-to-know-about-ipos\/?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=article\">IPO<\/a> market. So far, in 2021-2022, 22 IPOs have been registered, raising Rs. 46,316 cr, as compared to Rs. 1,798 cr during the same period last year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Analysts believe that the market will need a healthy correction in the near future to eliminate the weakness that is accumulating in various areas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Does the Indian stock market look weak and flimsy?
